History

James "Mac" McMinn founded Maui Metal Detecting more than a decade ago while living in the Hawaiian islands as a way of helping people by returning valuable lost items to them. He could not believe how common it was for people to lose things at the beach. He wanted to do something about it, and started Maui Metal detecting. After living in the Hawaiian islands for 15 years, Mac has relocated to Destin, Florida and now operates Destin Metal Detecting. Mac has traveled extensively throughout the world and US while returning hundreds of lost items to happy customers. He has even been interviewed by media publications to share some of his most heart-warming moments.

Mac utilizes a wide array of metal detectors to find different kinds of jewelry and other items at different depths and in different sand types or even underwater at depths of up to 60+ feet. He currently has 13 different detectors in his collection, as well as multiple detectors of the same type since these highly sensitive devices can be hyper-sensitive to salt water corrosion. Mac's diverse array of skills and expertise in different aquatic environments ensures that he will be able to locate your lost treasure. Whether it is a phone, keys, wedding ring, ring, earring, bracelet, or any other jewelry, or valuable metal item you have lost, don't fret it, Mac has you covered!

Absolutely amazing service! They found my ring after I had buried it super deep in the sand. Worst thing to do is dig for your ring. These people are total pros and have five $10,000 machines as well as can scuba dive into deep water to help you find your ring.
